JJ Watt Foundation raises $37 million for Hurricane Harvey Relief

The JJ Watt foundation has raised more than $37 million for Hurricane Harvey Relief, with an initial goal of $200,000.

Watt said he decided to try and find a way to help Houston as he watched his city become inundated with deadly floodwater from his hotel in Dallas, and he felt “helpless.”

JJ Watt Foundation hosts fundraiser in Pewaukee for hurricane relief

The JJ Watt Foundation joined forces with the Pewaukee school district to help hurricane victims by organizing a supply drive in the cafeteria at Pewaukee High School, 510 Lake St.

Watt, a defensive end with the Houston Texans, is a native of Pewaukee and an alumnus of Pewaukee High School.

Hurricane Harvey relief fund hits $20 million

The JJ Watt Foundation’s relief fund for Hurricane Harvey victims in Houston has reached $20 million — 100 times more than the NFL star’s original goal.

More than 180,000 donations have been made, mostly for less than $100 each, since Watt started the fund Aug. 28 with a donation of $100,000 and a goal of raising $200,000, according to YouCaring, the company taking the donations.

Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund reaches 13 million

The JJ Watt Foundation started an online fundraiser Sunday to aid victims of Hurricane Harvey with a modest goal of $200,000. On Friday, the amount donated surpassed his updated goal of $17 million.

Watt tweeted as the outpouring of support surpassed the $14 million mark, thanking those who donated for their generosity. He also said he will leave the fund open and see how high the total can go.
